The Steve Moore Foundation looks to advance our mission through a variety of programs and initiatives. 

Education

We seek to educate the public with comprehensive concussion-related resources, including an online resource library encompassing concussion facts, the latest research breakthroughs, news and developments and promising new treatment areas. We also seek to connect with the next generation of athletes through in-person outreach and education with Canadian youth, fostering mutual respect, one of the cornerstones of prevention in our view. The SMF website also allows people affected by concussion to connect with one another in our online forum as a means of support, encouragement and sharing of ideas and resources.

Research

SMF seeks to advance concussion-related research, particularly in the area of treatment. Currently there is no cure for concussions, and there are limited medically-accepted treatments other than rest for this oftentimes devastating injury. Through developing partnerships with doctors, physiotherapists, and research institutions, and our grant-making abilities, we seek to change the face of concussion treatment options. SMF works to facilitate collaboration, and supports research into innovative and effective treatments and cures.

Concussion Program Development

Also in connection with our network of experts, SMF aims to work with leagues, universities, associations, schools, organizations, and teams on concussion program development, including leading-edge baseline testing protocol, recovery procedures, post-injury re-testing protocol, as well as return to play and return to learn guidelines. 

Concussion Conference

One of SMF's largest initiatives currently, encompassing both education and research, is the launch of our First Annual SMF Concussion Conference. This conference will bring together the expertise and experiences of world-leading doctors and physiotherapists in the field, along with professional and Olympic athletes, for a first-of-its-kind symposium.
